Paul Erasmus has a very proud sporting tradition that has grown over the years. We strive to offer all our learners opportunities in as many sports as possible. We believe in the principle that a healthy body houses a healthy mind. Paul Erasmus has dedicated and professional coaches who give individual attention to each learner in order to develop each one’s full potential. Although we are very proud of our national and provincial sportsmen, creating opportunities for every learner is a big priority. Therefore, participation is strongly encouraged here. Our school takes part in festivals, derbies and leagues throughout the year which give our learners plenty of opportunity to practice their sport and also perform.

Letter from our biokineticist

“I am Waynette West, owner of Senekal Fitness Center and Biokinetist at Paul Erasmus
High school. I completed a 4 year Human Movement Science (MBS) degree at the University of
the Vystaat (UVOS) as well as an Honors degree in which I specialized in Biokinetics, so I also have
completed an intership year at UVOS.
Biokinetics ‘Life through Movement’ as a profession aims to improve the quality of life of a
person through a scientifically based exercise program. So we use
exercise as medicine for improving or restoring a person’s physical condition. A biokineticist
is a specialized exercise therapist trained to work specifically with special population groups
work. These groups include individuals with Cardiac risk factors (high blood pressure and Cholestrol,
diabetes, overweight & obesity), Orthopedic Injuries (Rehabilitation before and after surgery,
preventive strengthening, rehabilitation of injuries), chronic conditions (Bereute,
Arthritis, Thrombosis ) as well as exercise for the elderly to slow down deterioration. Every patient/client
are individually evaluated and a risk assessment is made. In addition, each patient/client receives
also a complete individualized exercise prescription as well as the necessary help and support from the
Biokineticist.
At Senekal Fitness Center one of the major focus points is the well-being of each child / young person
adult, because this is after all where development begins. Here we want to help learners to be the best
by giving them that extra advantage in terms of their strength, confidence, agility, footwork,
body posture, muscular endurance, core stability etc.
It is extremely important to strengthen specific muscles for a specific sport
prevent sports injuries and overuse injuries and ensure that every learner can fully
grow and develop, and therefore learners need sports-specific programs / scientific programs
so that their sporting needs can be met and also to improve their personal weaknesses.
Sport-specific testing must be done regularly to determine the players’ improvement and to
identify weaknesses that could lead to possible injuries.
Here we believe that each individual is unique and therefore should be treated as such. That is why we want each
give learners the opportunity to grow and find themselves while enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
Senekal Fitness Center is not only for the young team but also for the older ones who think about
weight loss, conditioning for a sporting event and/or struggling with an injury or chronic
